I LOVE CANDY

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
I dressed up on Thursday night for a costume party as a Ginger, or a red-head, in honor of my sister Jess and my friend Olivia.  I sent my parents this picture and they legitimately thought I dyed my hair red- oops!
Trick or Treating is not just for little kids- everyone get dressed up and go door to door in search for your favorite candy tonight.  Just try not to dress like sluts and scare the kids (and parents) away...

High Fashion or Just High??

Every Day is Halloween for Lady Gaga

I get it that Lady Gaga is trying to think outside of the box by appearing unique, but she is taking it to a whole new level.  This is not high fashion.  She dresses like a skanky crack head that cakes on a face of makeup to obviously hide something.  What is wrong with her?  She does make for a GREAT Halloween costume though!

All in the Hip

This was me last weekend at Putnam Den.  Okay, not exactly, but close.

It didn't take long after arriving at The Den to realize that a bunch of hippies were rolling on E or some form of a hallucinogenic.  Dressed in long skirts and short tanks, half of them were dancing in some form of dance I don't think I could even attempt to classify, while the other half encouraged Zoe and me to explore with their hula hoops.  Never having hula hooped before, I struggled at first, but with their guidance I mastered this art.  It could have been the gin and tonic Zoe bought me (thank you) but I think hula hooping is just really fun!  I may buy one....

Flashing Lights

Even though I have three tests this week and I should really be studying, I figured I should blog about nails instead.  Possibly my favorite waste of money is manicure/pedicures and since I'm feeling a little down from the cold and predicted snow, I'm thinking of going really bright this week.  Yellow?  Green?  Not sure which color yet but we shall see...

Fall Harvest

     Me, Caroline, Rachel, and Laura!

Driving home last weekend I was overwhelmed with the changing fall foliage.  I finally forced myself to accept the official end of summer and beginning of fall.  That being said, my friends and I decided to take a trip yesterday to Saratoga Apple, an apple orchard located about 20 minutes from Skidmore.  Between hot apple cider, freshly baked donuts, and gorgeous weather, it really was the perfect day!

Enjoying the treats!

Apples galore!

Everyone should visit a local apple orchard before the snow comes!

Boots With The Fur

This post is dedicated to my dear friend Laura Adelman.  Her preppy, down to earth style, along with her avid sailing has led her to a love for Sperry top-siders.  Due to the cold (and almost snow) hitting Saratoga, Laura has her eye on these fur-lined sperry's:

Like Laura, I have been eyeing a new pair of cozy shoes for the upcoming winter...Timberlands.
Thoughts??

My personal favorites...

Glee

While I'm not one to usually watch network shows, I think I've found my new favorite.  My TV line up solely consists of Chelsey Lately along with the occasional reality show or Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Glee is in its first season on FOX exposing viewers to a new realm of television.  "Musical comedy" would be the best description.  The typical jock, nerd, and artsy high school characters are highlighted in the show.  Not to mention, lots of amazing singing and dancing...

Obsession of the Week

I think I'll start a section of the blog titled "Obsession of the Week."  For those of you who know me well, it is clear that I obsess over anything and everything that I enjoy in my life.  Hopefully you will obsess over my obsessions as much as I do!!

(SPIN CLASS)

The YMCA in Saratoga is the best thing that has happened to me in 2009 thus far.  No offense to the Skidmore gym but the Y's classes are phenomenal.  They consist of blasting rap (Eminem anyone?), buff MILFs (no Nancy Botwin's though), and the occasional good looking male (debatable).  What more could you need in a gym??  I'm especially obsessed with the spin classes.  Crazy cardio/towel necessary/ hydrate.

Intro

Considering that I have created this blog with no clear intention or topic for discussion, it would probably be best to start from the beginning. I am a young (only 19-I know) junior at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY. Academics aside, Saratoga is an amazingly hip town most well known for the race track attracting tourists come summertime.
I spent May/June of this past summer traveling cross-country in South Africa. Spending two weeks living at the Edendale Primary School, an all black elementary school on the outskirts of a township/slum/shanty town, Mamelodi. The majority of the children in the classrooms we taught reside in this mile long stretch of shack after shack, where HIV/AIDS is as prevalent as starving children.

(Children in South Africa)

The second half of my summer was spent living on Woodlawn in Saratoga, spending days exercising, tanning (when the sun finally arrived!), attempting to understand horses, and waitressing at the Spring Water Inn.  Now that school has started I'm living in a beautiful and contemporary house with five of my best girl friends.  Although living on my own has not been so simple (I can't cook or clean), in the kitchen my friends resemble a Good Housekeeping magazine- apron and all- which definitely works to my benefit.
(Proof of the apron! (Caroline))

Hopefully posts to come will be more interesting and relevant.  Any blog ideas/requests please comment!
