Considering that I have created this blog with no clear intention or topic for discussion, it would probably be best to start from the beginning. I am a young (only 19-I know) junior at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY. Academics aside, Saratoga is an amazingly hip town most well known for the race track attracting tourists come summertime.
I spent May/June of this past summer traveling cross-country in South Africa. Spending two weeks living at the Edendale Primary School, an all black elementary school on the outskirts of a township/slum/shanty town, Mamelodi. The majority of the children in the classrooms we taught reside in this mile long stretch of shack after shack, where HIV/AIDS is as prevalent as starving children.

The second half of my summer was spent living on Woodlawn in Saratoga, spending days exercising, tanning (when the sun finally arrived!), attempting to understand horses, and waitressing at the Spring Water Inn. Now that school has started I'm living in a beautiful and contemporary house with five of my best girl friends. Although living on my own has not been so simple (I can't cook or clean), in the kitchen my friends resemble a Good Housekeeping magazine- apron and all- which definitely works to my benefit.
(Proof of the apron! (Caroline))
Hopefully posts to come will be more interesting and relevant. Any blog ideas/requests please comment!
